Summer Financial Planning Associate
This position is an Internship for the Summer 2027 based in West Des Moines, Iowa and reports to the Senior Advisor.
To work with the collaborative team at Triangle Financial Services as we help our clients live their best lives. This internship is practical and hands‑on, allowing you the a part of the financial planning, wealth management, and divorce financial planning work we do.

We work collaboratively as a team and the role we play is a vital part of the success of the whole team. The goal of this internship will be to:
- Learn about the details of the financial planning process by utilizing firm tools to develop a robust financial plan
- Assist, under supervision, in the client review process including document gathering, financial modeling, portfolio analysis, market research investment allocation research, and analysis.
- Support Lead Financial Advisor in preparing, attending, and documenting client meetings
- Collaborate with the team to identify and execute a ‘capstone’ project during the internship; opportunities include:
- Support the marketing of the firm through curating and scheduling, including digital and print assets, website optimization, social media campaigns, and niche target market outreach
- Investment research & niche communications
- Financial planning software investigation and testing
- Evaluating different risk assessment tools
- Participate in and support the day-to-day activities of the firm
Qualifications include:
- Applicants must be through their sophomore year at a 4-year accredited college or university
- Minimum GPA of 3.2 in pursuit of a finance or entrepreneurial-related degree
- Strong desire to gain further understanding of the wealth management business
- An ability to understand and interpret numeric data
- Outstanding written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with the ability to collaborate and work effectively on a team
- Strong project management skills with impeccable attention to detail
- Able to pass a background check in accordance with FINRA & SEC compliance
This job is best performed in a hybrid environment or full in person environment.
