We are looking to hire a Patient Care Technician Assistant - Peri Op. As a Patient Care Technician Assistant - Peri Op at Mercy One, you support the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned by the physician or RN. These duties may vary by shift or may be unit-specific. You serve the population from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Schedule- Flexible start and end times. Days with evenings available. 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts; no weekends or holidays
- Assist O.R. staff in a variety of tasks including positioning and moving patients, locating, moving and set-up of equipment and supplies, preparing rooms, and opening sterile supplies.
- Assist with patient transport when appropriate.
- Order and ensure availability of supplies as assigned.
- Perform assigned tasks to ensure a clean and orderly environment throughout the department.
- Communicate appropriately with staff, physicians, patients and families.
- Obtain and return x-rays.
- Deliver specimens to Lab; obtain blood from Blood Bank.
- Comply with OSHA/JCAHO and other guidelines and policies.
- Set up trauma room.
- Perform sterilization & monitoring tests.
- Pull and utilize preference cards.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in medical setting preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak English language.
- Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. The acceptable credentialing body is the American Heart Association.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
