The Regional Registered Dietitian will provide excellent nutrition care to our skilled nursing facilities in a defined region. This role will work closely with the entire Regional Dietitian team to cover when a team member is out or if there is additional need for support. Ideal candidates are independent, self‑directed, engaged team players with exceptional leadership skills.
What will a Regional Registered Dietitian do?Here are some key responsibilities
- Mentoring the Certified Dietary Manager and working collaboratively with the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Evaluate the dietary department and the food service for regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
- Conduct kitchen sanitation audits and staff in‑service for food service workers and nursing staff as appropriate.
- Leadership and participation with the weekly weight & wound meetings. Identify interventions and provide follow up.
- Maintain clear communication with administrative team, the IDT members and the Director of Hospitality Operations via verbal and written techniques.
- Provide on‑site support during annual survey.
- Responsible for performing medical nutrition therapy to facility residents, monitoring nutritional status, and making recommendations to improve resident nutritional status.
- Screening and nutrition evaluation of all residents upon admission, quarterly, annually and as needed based on nutritional risk factors.
- Participates in the development of resident centered care plans.
- Monthly monitoring of high‑risk residents including enteral or parenteral nutrition, dialysis, weight and skin issues along with any other nutrition related concerns.
- Obtains necessary information from the medical record to determine patient’s nutritional status; develops nutritional care plans.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family. Provides nutritional teaching and counseling to patient/family in making desired changes in eating habits. Assesses patient’s ability to learn.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in coursework approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics.
- Registered Dietitian required.
- Current Iowa Dietetic License.
- Previous experience in long‑term care / skilled nursing setting - preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Nutrition Care Process, and charting methods for electronic medical records preferred.
- Knowledge of regulations such as CMS, Department of Health, etc.
