The Production Manager leads our internal production operations, with a focus on supporting efficient homebuilding through strong pre‑construction execution. This role manages the drafting, estimating, and pre‑construction teams to ensure construction documents, budgets and scopes of work are accurate, timely, and aligned with our brand schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Leads and manages the drafting, estimating, and pre-construction teams to support high-quality, on‑schedule home starts.
- Ensures construction drawings, takeoffs, and budgets are completed accurately and reflect current plans, specifications and scopes.
- Coordinates plan updates, option selections, and product changes across departments to maintain alignment and reduce errors in the field.
- Collaborates closely with purchasing, sales, and field operations to ensure plans and estimates meet operational needs.
- Identifies and implements process improvements to streamline pre‑construction workflows and improve accuracy.
- Maintains and updates plan libraries and product specifications, ensuring consistency across communities.
- Manages permit submittals and supports compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Monitors team workload, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure production goals are met.
- Assists with negotiating company-wide product rebates and tracking rebate programs.
- Participants in the company-wide estimating committee to help evaluate cost trends, vendor pricing and estimating standards.
- Supports cost control efforts through continuous review of estimates and value engineering opportunities.
- Serves as a liaison between internal teams to facilitate clear communication and issue resolution.
- 5+ years of experience in residential construction, drafting, estimating, or production operations.
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of residential construction documents, scope of work, estimating processes.
- Proficient in homebuilding software platforms (e.g. Revit, Mark Systems, Buildertrend, or equivalent).
- Experience in production homebuilding environment preferred.
- Familiarity with local codes and permitting processes preferred.
- Mobile phone with a data plan is required.
- Must have a reliable vehicle and have proof of liability insurance for same. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be bondable.
- Must remain alert at all times perform essential functions of the position.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a solutions-oriented mindset.
