Job Summary

A Powder Coat Technician is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components to meet company quality and production standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The technician conducts routine inspections, monitors equipment performance, and maintains adherence to safety, environmental, and quality procedures. Daily duties include loading and unloading parts, identifying and correcting coating defects, and assisting with material handling throughout the production process.

The role requires close coordination with production, maintenance, and quality teams to achieve production schedules and customer expectations. Due to customer demand and production requirements, this position regularly requires daily overtime and flexibility in work hours to support operational goals.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and direct employees within the offload area to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Ensure finished material is accurately identified and routed to the correct location or department.
  • Monitor material movement and verify accuracy to prevent misplaced, missing, or incorrectly routed material.
  • Communicate priorities, changes, and expectations clearly to team members.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks and priorities throughout the shift to keep material flowing.
  • Assist with physically offloading material when workload or staffing requires additional support.
  • Identify problems or discrepancies and take action to resolve them before they impact production or downstream departments.
Additional Skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills — comfortable giving direction and keeping employees on task.
  • Highly detail-oriented — able to catch errors involving material, quantities, locations, paperwork, or system information.
  • Computer proficient — comfortable navigating multiple programs, screens, and transactions.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills and able to make decisions when priorities change.
  • Team-oriented and hands-on — willing to step in and assist rather than only directing others.
  • Dependable and accountable with a strong understanding that accuracy and material flow directly affect production and customer service.

  • The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be able to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment that involves standing, lifting, bending, and exposure to heat and industrial equipment.
