Overview

The student ministry coordinator is responsible for bringing to life and continuing to develop the student ministry vision in conjunction with the mission, vision and values of Hope Waukee.

Primary Functions Power Life Ministry
  • In coordination with the Campus pastor and student team, continue to develop the vision for Power Life (Grades 6-12) ministry.
  • Build teams of volunteers to support weekly ministry.
  • Assist in curriculum planning for Power Life in coordination with student team under the vision of Lutheran Church of Hope.
  • Lead the Power Life Leadership Team (PLOT) on Wednesday nights and in communication throughout the week.
  • Develop, grow, and communicate with Power Life Operations team (PLOT).
  • Build and plan out all CREW (relationships, game, snack) coordination for Power Life ministry on a Wednesday night.
  • Participate in upfront stage opportunities for announcements and games.
  • Provide regular teaching for Power Life, and Ignition (Grades 9-12), when needed on Wednesday nights.
  • Meet with and invest in small group leaders for Power Life and Ignition for continued support and development.
  • Plan all Power Life events for the summer that bridge the gap for incoming 6th grade families with support from Student Minister.
  • Assist with planning and leadership of Power Life and Ignition special events and retreats.
Ignition Ministry
  • Assist with team building, Wednesday programming, care, communication, and teaching for Ignition (grades 9-12).
Secondary Functions
  • Meet regularly with the youth and family team to best support the ministry.
  • Meet regularly with the campus pastor for coaching, feedback, and planning.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and all-staff functions.
  • Be present for and assist with all major church-wide events including Christmas, Easter, Vacation Bible School, Taste of Hope, Trunk or Treat, etc.
  • Support the mission, vision, values, and authority structure of Lutheran Church of Hope and the vision for multi-site ministry.
Personal Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Lutheran Church of Hope Staff Covenant for spiritual, personal and professional relationships and behavior.
  • Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and personal learning.

Education and Experience Required
  • Possess Christ-centered, joy-filled passion for ministry which flows from a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Extremely strong organizational skills for administration and leadership of team-based ministry.
  • Ability to supervise, inspire, and equip volunteers.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills with a passion for and experience speaking to small and large groups.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance ministry with personal and family life.
  • Ability to lead, coordinate and manage multiple tasks.
  • Extremely people-oriented, with a contagious spirit for service.
  • Commitment to always reflect in the best possible light Lutheran Church of Hope, its staff, and the mission, vision, and values of its Constitution.
Hours and Benefits

40 hours per week with benefits.
