Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, health history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Manage and document donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
• Evaluate donor reactions during procedures per SOPs and follow medical emergency protocols.
• Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs regarding medical or technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility concerns.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health or ER as required.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or equivalent and completed nursing program, or licensed LPN/LVN in the state of assignment.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Licensure for basic IV therapy per state requirements.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
