As a Clinic RN at Mercy One Iowa Heart Center West Des Moines, you will provide professional nursing care for adult clinic patients following IHC’s established standards and practices.

• Full time 40 hours a week
• 8:00-4:30
• No Weekends or Holidays

• Perform general and cardiac nursing care to patients.
• Administer prescribed procedures, medications, and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
• Conduct and assess medical and interval history interviews with patients.
• Provide patient and family education and document in medical record.
• Perform phone triage, assess and communicate needs to physician as needed.
• Act as problem solver as it relates to patient, family, physician issues according to protocol.
• Read and research patient records, charts and Practice Manager system for other pertinent information; may dictate history and physical, consults and other professional related letters.
• Review and report pertinent test(s) and outside examination results, scrutinize for needed follow up; communicate to Physician.
• Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional certifications.
• Maintain practice standards in regard to Quality Improvement and OSHA.
• Perform various procedures and tests according to department guidelines.
• Schedule admissions and outpatient procedures, and obtain consents.
• Responsible for meeting all IHC RN competencies.

• Current licensure as R.N., state of Iowa or compact state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained by the end of the orientation period (approximately six weeks). Acceptable credentialing bodies include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.
• ACLS within six months of hire.
• Three years of RN nursing experience required.
• Two years of critical care experience or clinical cardiac equivalent experience required.
• Level I Cardiac Arrhythmia class completion within six months.
• Level II 12 Lead EKG class completion within one year.
