General FunctionFacilitates the Hy‑Vee food protection and occupational safety program training courses. This position will conduct Certified Food Protection Manager, Basic Food Handler, and Occupational Safety courses regionally and will help strengthen and support retail and manufacturing operations to ensure Hy‑Vee remains in compliance with regulatory requirements and Hy‑Vee standards.

Positions that Report to you:

- Develop a comprehensive company‑wide food safety and sanitation training program.
- Provide ongoing training to retail, manufacturing, and Food Safety Supervisors on food safety and sanitation OSHA requirements.
- Assist with routine food safety and sanitation assessments of stores.
- Assist with preparing and communicating individual store reports based on assessment identifying food protection and sanitation issues.
- Assess and ensure store compliance with OSHA requirements.
- Track and measure compliance and food safety results of all retail locations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly summary reports.
- Participate in preliminary and final health department inspection to obtain proper licenses for new stores and remodels.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Attend and participate as required in company meetings, events, and functions.

- Prior work experience in food safety, food processing or quality assurance desired.
- Experience and technical knowledge of retail and manufacturing food code requirements along with basic occupational safety codes.
- High school degree or equivalent required; post‑secondary degree in food science and/or microbiology a plus.

Physical Requirements- Visual requirements include the ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, normal depth perception.
- Physically able to perform light work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 20 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking for extended periods.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
The duties of this position are performed in a classroom/training room setting while training a group of no more than 35 individuals. This position may also involve training in the manufacturing and warehouse locations. There will be occasional pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects in a day. Regional travel is required to conduct training.
Equipment Used to Perform JobStandard equipment used in an office environment including telephone, copier, FAX, microfilm copier, and PC with typical Office programs. Operation of company automobile (valid driver’s license required).
Financial ResponsibilityManage specified budget items as assigned per corporate guidelines.
ContactsHas frequent contact with stores, the Food Safety team, and office personnel.
