Maintenance Technician

This role offers an opportunity for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support production operations by troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems on manufacturing equipment for windows and doors. You will perform preventative maintenance on a wide range of machinery, ensure equipment reliability, and keep accurate maintenance records while working independently on shift and collaborating closely with production leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment used in the manufacturing of windows and doors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, motors, bearings, saws, overhead cranes, and other production machinery.
  • Repair conveyors, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, pneumatic systems, and 3-phase motors operating at 480 volts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams for production equipment to diagnose and resolve equipment problems.
  • Use testing equipment to perform electrical troubleshooting, including AC/DC motors, 3-phase motors, and 480-volt systems.
  • Identify, prioritize, and complete maintenance and repairs on the most urgent items in coordination with production managers.
  • Log all maintenance activities, repairs, and preventative tasks accurately in maintenance software and maintain detailed maintenance logs.
  • Monitor and help manage maintenance department inventory, ensuring necessary parts, tools, and supplies are available.
  • Operate a golf cart equipped with tools to move efficiently between different areas of the plant and respond to maintenance requests.
  • Provide occasional support at another nearby facility when needed, while primarily working at the main plant.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Work independently on shift, taking ownership of equipment reliability and ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Follow safety procedures and best practices when working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience or equivalent education in industrial maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical skills with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, presses, saws, conveyors, and related equipment.
  • Experience performing troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on production machinery.
  • Electrical skills including AC/DC motors, 3-phase motors, 480-volt systems, wiring, conduit installation, and electrical testing.
  • Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting and shortage repair using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and motors.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate maintenance logs and documenting work in maintenance software (such as SAP or similar systems).
  • Capability to work independently with strong time management and ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Effective problem-solving skills in both mechanical and electrical contexts.
  • Comfort working with industrial automation and PLC-controlled equipment (troubleshooting as needed).
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and PLC control in an industrial environment (programming not required; troubleshooting is a plus).
  • Familiarity with industrial automation and robotics is beneficial.
  • Experience using SAP or similar maintenance management software.
  • Experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance, including repair of industrial equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production managers and other plant personnel.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly describe issues, repairs, and maintenance needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize urgent repairs.
  • Comfort operating a golf cart or similar vehicle within a plant setting to respond quickly to maintenance needs.
