AboutThe Role
Account Managers (AMs) provide day‑to‑day client support, ensuring seamless service and addressing immediate needs. As the face of Alerus, AMs deliver top‑tier customer service by leveraging their own expertise and the depth of institutional knowledge from internal colleagues. Acting as the primary point of contact — or “quarterback” — for all plan‑related questions, AMs use Salesforce to route inquiries and maintain close oversight of open items for their assigned plans, ensuring timely resolution and consistent client satisfaction.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Play a key role in supporting client relationships and ensuring their needs are met with care and attention.
- Learn to manage non‑compliance tested accounts, full‑service accounts, and coordinate with internal teams under guidance of senior team members.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with a portfolio of clients.
- Serve as the day‑to‑day point of contact for client inquiries and support.
- Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., sales, operations, support) to meet client needs.
- Track account activity and update CRM tools and documentation regularly.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business‑related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in defined contribution plans.
- QKA credential (Qualified 401(k) Administrator) is strongly recommended; candidates actively pursuing the designation or with equivalent expertise will be considered.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement, with a history of contributing to process enhancements or operations efficiency efforts.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Ability to work independently and set priorities.
- Ability to interpret documents and resolve technical problems.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, occasionally lift or move supplies and materials up to 20 pounds, and utilize ergonomic safeguards when moving about the office.
Base Pay Range$50,000 – $85,000 per year, based on experience.
