The power generation market continues to grow and evolve with strong capacity demand signals. Our national Power Generation team is poised for growth. We are seeking a qualified Senior Electrical Power Engineer to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor.

Opportunities are available in multiple locations including Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Bismarck, Billings, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Irvine, Fort Worth, Houston, Honolulu, Kansas City, Madison, Minneapolis, Missoula, Omaha, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento/Folsom, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, St. Louis, Syracuse.
- Lead teams for power generation design projects, including support in a traditional Owner’s Engineer role.
- Apply extensive experience in power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs (e.g., raceway, lighting, grounding, instrumentation and control, life safety systems).
- Mentor engineers, support client relationships, and lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to requests for proposals.
- Provide design and engineer of record work for power plant systems; collaborate with Project Manager on project reviews and coordinate with other professionals as needed.
- Travel up to 10% for meetings with clients and vendors and site visits.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis (preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design (preferred); 10+ years acceptable with PE license.
- Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
- Experience with engineering power consulting or EPC firms (preferred).
- Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills; strong leadership and ability to work independently or as a lead on multi-discipline teams.
- Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, and related disciplines including lighting and grounding design, instrumentation and control, and life safety systems.
- Proficiency with project reviews and mentoring staff as needed; ability to direct activities of other engineers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPIPE, Revit).
- License:
Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng.
