Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing care to donors. You will determine donor eligibility and manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and communicate unsuitable test results. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager or Assistant Manager and works under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including initiating Center Physician’s standing orders and arranging transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when unacceptable findings are identified or for guidance on medical or technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate‑equivalent recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- At least two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20 (actual wage depends on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location).
