TEMPORARY Shop and Grounds Laborer

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Compensation: $22.87 per Hour

Responsible for numerous maintenance activities including but not limited to:

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE:

Primary responsibility is to maintain the highway department grounds to a high maintenance standard. Specific tasks include:

* Mowing of highway department lawns on a weekly or twice weekly basis, including trimming and edging

* Irrigation of Highway Department grounds

* Fertilizing and chemical weed control of lawn and trees

* Daily inspection of Highway Department grounds for trash pickup;

* Weeding flower beds on weekly basis

* Sweeping sidewalks and parking lots

* Touchup painting

* Other related activities

SHOP MAINTENANCE:

* Perform general cleaning of all County Highway Shop spaces and vehicles as directed

* Perform daily inspection of the County Admin vehicle and wash/vacuum as required

* Pick up parts from various area vendors as directed

* Perform vehicle maintenance activities and maintenance of shop equipment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE NEEDED

* Must possess a valid driver's license

* Minimum six months' experience in lawn and grounds maintenance activities and the ability to operate various lawn and grounds maintenance equipment

* Ability to operate hot water power washer

* Ability to perform manual cleaning and maintenance activities

* Position requires prolonged standing, lifting up to 70 pounds, frequent bending, stooping and stretching

DESIRED/PREFERRED

Class A driver's license; similar related experience.
