Through this partnership, we are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead complex, high profile bridge rehabilitation and reconstruction projects across Connecticut (including complex steel reinforcement, structural repairs, deck replacements, and design-build structural improvements).

Objectives of this Role
  • Project Execution: Provide total oversight of multi-million-dollar heavy civil bridge projects, ensuring strict adherence to agency standards, specifications, and timelines.
  • Collaboration & Alignment: Act as the central point of contact for the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), municipal public agencies, joint-venture partners, and engineers.
  • On-Site Leadership: Direct and mentor field staff, superintendents, and project engineers to build an efficient, safe, and collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule & Document Control: Oversee the preparation, submission, and tracking of RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Regularly update and manage the heavy civil construction schedule using industry-standard software.
  • Commercial Management: Manage material procurement schedules, control long lead-time items, and review/approve subcontractor and material invoices.
  • Agency Compliance: Ensure all work meets the rigorous compliance, quality, and documentation requirements of CTDOT and regional public works authorities.
  • Safety & Field Administration: Supervise day-to-day operations out of the field office, enforcing strict zero-incident safety protocols and managing overall site logistics.
Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of 6+ years of heavy civil construction project management experience, with a dedicated emphasis on Bridge, Structural Steel, or Highway/Transit construction
    .
  • Public Works Expertise: Proven track record managing projects for state DOTs (CTDOT experience is highly preferred) or other major municipal public works agencies.
  • Technical Mastery: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and resolve complex structural schematics, bridge plans, and heavy civil engineering designs.
    Software Savvy: High proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Heavy Job, or Primavera P6).
  • Communication: Masterful communication, negotiation, and leadership skills necessary to drive success across field crews and executive stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with complex structural steel rehabilitation, concrete deck replacement, or design-build project delivery methods.
