POSITION SUMMARYThe School-Based Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for all staff to support students’ success, safety, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role focuses on professional development in areas such as behavior management, crisis prevention, instructional strategies, and workplace policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Deliver initial and refresher trainings in Physical Management Training (PMT), deescalation, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Training staff on ASD-specific supports, including communication strategies, sensory needs, and behavior functions.
- Provide real-time coaching and modeling during classroom activities and crisis situations.
- Ensure proper and safe implementation of hands‑on techniques, reinforcing approved methods and identifying misuse.
- Monitor staff compliance with policies related to incident reporting, documentation, and use of personal technology.
- Conduct follow‑up retraining when incidents, policy violations, or skill gaps are identified.
- Collaborate with supervisors and administration to review incidents and recommend corrective actions or training plans.
- Maintain accurate records of all staff trainings, certifications, and recertification timelines.
- Promote proactive strategies to reduce crisis situations and improve student outcomes.
- Work flexible hours as needed to provide coverage and support for all shifts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in a school or educational setting.
- Experience delivering staff training and professional development.
- Strong knowledge of behavior management strategies and crisis intervention techniques (e.g., PMT, CPI, or similar).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coach and support staff in high-stress situations.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
- Group health insurance and other fringe benefits are available.
- $1,000 sign‑on bonus after one year of service for newly hired employees, not applicable for re‑hires.
