Academic Manager, Hawk Advantage Position Information

Position Summary | Provides academic support and advocacy for Hawk Advantage students by connecting at-risk students with resources, developing academic success plans, and coordinating workshops and peer support initiatives. Serves as a liaison between the Hawk Advantage program, faculty, and the Center for Student Success while overseeing tutoring operations and promoting available academic services. Tracks program utilization and student outcomes, maintains accurate records, and uses data-driven, inclusive practices to continuously improve student support services.

Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.

Hiring Range | $60,000

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports At-risk Students:
    Identifies students facing academic challenges and connects them with appropriate support services through the Hawk Advantage (HA) Study Center, HA Math Lab, HA Writing Lab, and other campus resources.
  • Advocates for Students:
    Serves as a primary point of contact and advocate for Hawk Advantage students requiring academic support and intervention.
  • Collaborates with Faculty and Departments:
    Serves as a liaison between the Center for Student Success and the Hawk Advantage program, fostering collaboration to support student success.
  • Oversees Tutoring Operations:
    Coordinates tutor recruitment, hiring, scheduling, payroll documentation, and related administrative functions.
  • Promotes Academic Resources:
    Ensures faculty, staff, and students are informed about Hawk Advantage services, including tutoring, writing assistance, academic coaching, and workshops.
  • Coordinates Academic Workshops:
    Plans, develops, and facilitates workshops focused on study skills, exam preparation, note-taking, time management, and other academic success strategies.
  • Supports Peer Learning Initiatives:
    Assists in the development, implementation, and supervision of peer tutoring and mentoring programs.
  • Develops Academic Success Plans:
    Collaborates with students and institutional partners to create and monitor individualized academic improvement plans.
  • Tracks Program Utilization:
    Collects and analyzes usage data for the Hawk Advantage Study Center, HA Math Lab, and HA Writing Lab to identify trends and support program effectiveness.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement:
    Evaluates student feedback and program outcomes to recommend and implement enhancements to academic support services and advising practices.
  • Maintains Student Records:
    Ensures advising notes, referrals, case documentation, and student records are accurate, current, and properly maintained within institutional systems and databases.
  • Facilitates Communication:
    Communicates regularly with students, faculty, and staff regarding available services, referrals, and student support initiatives.
  • Maintains Professional Knowledge:
    Participates in ongoing professional development to remain current on best practices in academic advising, student development, retention, and educational support.
  • Promotes Equity and Inclusion:
    Applies inclusive practices and culturally responsive approaches to effectively support diverse student populations and foster student success.
  • Performs other assigned duties as needed.
