Teacher - Early Childhood Playgroups

Part Time West Hartford, CT, US

Salary Range: $18.00 To $20.00 Annually

The Bridge Family Center's Family Resource Center (FRC) is seeking a part time (20 hours/week) Teacher to facilitate playgroups during the school year in the West Hartford community/schools. This position would also provide substitute childcare in the FRC's before and after school preschool program and participate in other FRC programming throughout the year. Specific hours and times will vary throughout the school year, but will be primarily during the morning/early afternoon hours.

This position is located at the Charter Oak International Academy in West Hartford, CT.

The Bridge offers competitive pay and benefits for part time staff including 403(b) with match, 3 weeks of vacation to start (increasing annually for the first 5 years), paid sick time, personal time, diversity days, 8 paid holidays, and professional development support. As a non-profit organization, we are also eligible to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. All PTO will be pro-rated based on regularly scheduled hours.

  • Lead the West Hartford Family Resource Center traveling playgroups
  • Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages six weeks – five years
  • Prepare the learning environment, projects and materials needed for each group
  • Understand and communicate early childhood developmental milestones with the families in attendance
  • Interact with and supervise children’s play
  • Establish and maintain collaborative, trusting relationships with the children’s caregivers through open communication. This will include providing guidance and family resources and sharing developmental insights on a regular basis.
  • Set up and clean up the playgroup spaces
  • Maintain a professional attitude
  • Participate in other playgroups, FRC Programs, and before/after care programs as needed.
Qualifications/

Skills:

Minimum of an Associate’s degree in early Childhood Education or a related field. Experience working with children and families in an early childhood setting. Must have reliable transportation. Strong communication skills. Highly organized and detail oriented. Self-starter and able to take initiative. Culturally sensitive. Bilingual candidates strongly preferred.
