Responsibilities

Triumph is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer to build a proactive safety culture while developing, implementing, maintaining and monitoring all necessary EHS policies, programs, procedures, reports, recordkeeping and training to comply with federal, state and local safety, health and environmental regulations for a manufacturing facility of 500+ employees.

Responsibilities Include Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Permitting
  • Compliance Oversight:
    Ensure the facility meets all federal, state and local laws (OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEEP).
  • Permit Management:
    Manage all environmental permitting requirements, including Air Quality, Storm Water and Spill Prevention.
  • Auditing:
    Execute internal compliance auditing and interpret new regulations to recommend policy changes.
  • Reporting:
    Ensure all sampling, monitoring and data is submitted to regulatory agencies as required by permits.
Operational Safety & Risk Mitigation
  • Hazard Control:
    Partner with the EHS team to prevent physical, chemical and biological hazards.
  • Technical Guidance:
    Provide expert advice on the selection and use of PPE and health‑related workplace issues.
  • Material Review:
    Investigate and evaluate all new incoming materials to assess safety risks and ensure compliance.
  • Field Evaluation:
    Coordinate field safety measurements and make data‑driven recommendations to management regarding new resources or compliance issues.
  • EHS Local Risk Programs:
    Focus on risk programs and writing risk procedures in areas such as Air Quality, Hazard Assessment, Contingency and Disaster Recovery.
Environmental & Waste Operations
  • Wastewater Management:
    Operate the onsite Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated control equipment.
  • Waste Programs:
    Manage hazardous, universal and regulated waste programs, including inventories, manifest tracking and waste haul oversight.
  • Spill Response:
    Organize and equip spill‑control teams and lead storm water procedure activities.
Incident Management & Emergency Response
  • Investigations:
    Lead investigations of employee concerns, EHS incidents and near Misses using root‑cause analysis.
  • Corrective Action:
    Develop, implement and follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Emergency Planning:
    Support the site emergency plan, including practice drills, fire‑alarm testing and evacuation/shelter activities.
Strategy, Training & Leadership
  • Strategic Planning:
    Support the development of facility‑wide EHS strategic plans and work with plant management to execute them.
  • Training Programs:
    Lead all health, safety and environmental training for the site (500+ employees).
  • Leadership & Mentoring:
    Coach and mentor junior EHS staff to support their professional growth and skill development.
  • Financial Oversight:
    Execute safety‑related capital expenditure requests and manage EHS budgeting matters.
  • Metrics:
    Maintain and communicate EHS performance metrics for site management and corporate reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Safety, Health and Environmental studies or related disciplines; knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Five to ten years working in a manufacturing environment in an Environmental, Health and Safety capacity.
  • EHS‑related certifications are a plus:
    Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
