Position Description
Job Summary: The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the mobile equipment fleet within the specified territory, to ensure alignment with the Company’s vision and objectives. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of technicians managing our maintenance and repair facility, always keeping safety at the forefront of everything we do.
Essential Functions

Maintain responsibility for the health and safety of all direct reports and any personnel who work in or frequent the shop and surrounding areas, ensuring safe work practices, strong housekeeping standards, and a clean, organized work environment.Safety always wins. Ensure compliance with all FMCSA fleet maintenance regulations by overseeing inspections, maintenance activities, and the accurate completion and retention of all required records and documentation.Communicate. Collaborate with division and operations leadership to anticipate, plan for, and meet fleet vehicle and equipment needs in support of operational demands.Focused. Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections for all fleet vehicles and equipment to maximize reliability, performance, and uptime.Determined. Prioritize, assign, and direct repair work and resources, including coordination of parts ordering and hands‑on support as needed, to ensure timely and cost‑effective completion of work.Committed to serve. Respond to off‑site vehicle incidents as required to support investigation, recovery, and follow‑up actions in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.Dedication. Support financial accountability by assisting with annual budget development, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, managing labor spend, and adhering to company procurement, invoicing, and payroll approval policies.Respect and engage. Lead shop staffing and workforce management efforts, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions, to maintain a skilled, accountable, and engaged team.Mastery. Promote continuous improvement by providing training, development, and advancement opportunities for maintenance personnel.Loyalty. Partner with local BOCES programs and community stakeholders to support workforce development initiatives and create meaningful opportunities for local youth.Safety. Oversee building and facility maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and all points of egress, to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant.Position Requirements
High school diploma required—associate’s degree preferred.Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the Heavy Equipment or Trucking Industry.Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position.Working knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and operational financial management.Must be familiar with the Microsoft suite of applications Word,…
