Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 500 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

Responsibilities

Salary Ranges: $72,600.00 - $/annual

We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-driven Shipping/Receiving Supervisor in our West Hartford location to oversee daily material movement operations, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and support internal customers across production and supply chain teams. In this role, you will manage workflow, allocate resources, and guide team performance to support on‑time delivery, inventory accuracy, and the efficient flow of materials throughout the site.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and enjoys hands‑on supervision while contributing to continuous improvement. This is an on‑site role with limited remote work flexibility as needed.

Supervision & Workflow Management
  • Day-to-day supervision of nontechnical/nonprofessional shipping and receiving staff, including work allocation and scheduling.
  • Monitor team workflow to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely handling of inbound and outbound materials.
  • Resolve issues raised by team members and remove obstacles to maintain smooth operations.
Safety & Compliance
  • Drive a culture of safe work, ensuring proper safety practices and methods are in place and consistently followed.
  • Verify compliance with all company, regulatory, and industry safety requirements.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, packaging, and documentation of hazardous materials in accordance with DOT Hazmat regulations, including compliance with 49 CFR 172.704 training standards.
Quality & Material Control
  • Investigate material non‑conformances using root cause analysis techniques and implement corrective actions to prevent future failures.
  • Be proactive in identifying potential production or quality failures and collaborate with appropriate resources to resolve issues.
  • Monitor and report cycle count discrepancies, inventory variances, and scrap.
Productivity & Performance
  • Set productivity goals for each team member and track performance against objectives.
  • Develop, train, and motivate team members to achieve operational goals and utilize appropriate metrics.
  • Support kitting activities and work with Stores personnel as needed to ensure timely delivery of kits and materials.
Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Processes
  • Ensure accurate receiving, inspection, and documentation of inbound shipments.
  • Oversee packing, labeling, and documentation of outbound shipments following company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy and support MRP‑driven material movement activities.
  • Maintain accurate Hazardous Materials documentation (e.g., shipping papers, labels, markings) as required for domestic transportation.
  • Manage inventory levels for shipping‑related consumables including corrugated boxes, foams, packaging materials, and chemicals required for shipping or preservation.
  • Coordinate replenishment of packaging supplies and consumables to ensure uninterrupted operations and compliance with specifications.
Cross‑Functional Interaction
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve material flow issues and support on‑time delivery.
  • Evaluate and report dispatch priorities and staffing to minimize downtime and meet company objectives.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior shipping and receiving experience.
  • Experience with MRP systems (JD Edward preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of military and commercial aerospace specifications and standards (preferred).
