Construction Estimator
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and the ability to analyze project specifications, gather necessary information, and provide accurate cost estimates. The Construction Estimator plays a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, contributing to the overall success of our projects through precise cost forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:- Bid Preparation:
Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for construction projects. - Material and Labor Assessment:
Evaluate the quantity and cost of materials, equipment, and labor required for each project, considering market trends, availability, and project-specific factors. - Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:
Solicit and review quotes from vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing. Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure accurate and timely cost data. - Cost Analysis:
Conduct cost analysis for different construction methods, materials, and project alternatives. Provide recommendations to enhance cost-effectiveness and efficiency. - Budget Development:
Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop project budgets, ensuring alignment with cost estimates and client expectations. - Risk Assessment:
Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with construction projects, incorporating contingency plans into estimates to mitigate risks. - Bid Submission:
Prepare and submit competitive and timely bids, responding to requests for proposals (RFPs) and other bid opportunities. Present and defend estimates during bid reviews. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, including bid documents, cost databases, and historical data. Utilize estimating software and tools for efficiency and accuracy. - Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other team members to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements and objectives. - Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and construction technology advancements. Implement best practices to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the estimating process.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred. - Experience:
Proven experience as a Construction Estimator with a solid understanding of construction processes and industry standards. - Analytical
Skills:
Strong analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations and data analysis. - Communication:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical information to a diverse audience. - Software Proficiency:
Proficient in construction estimating software and Microsoft Excel. - Attention to Detail:
Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing project documentation and preparing estimates.
