Job SummaryUrgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including the treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu‑like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. They function in lieu of or alongside a physician and must possess excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct patients to the emergency room when necessary.
Per Diem employees must be available to work 3 days in every 28‑day block, including 1 weekend shift.
- Bachelor’s Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master’s Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- One (1) year of full‑time experience in Emergency Medicine or in an Urgent Care setting required.
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred.
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, and casting.
- Preliminary reads on EKGs and X‑rays required.
- Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Examining and treating patients.
- Taking patients’ medical histories.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X‑rays.
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications.
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
- Recording progress notes for follow‑up patients.
- Educating and counseling patients.
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients.
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care.
- Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hour shift, assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care.
- All other duties as assigned.
