Talascend is currently seeking an R8 Licensed Conveyor Installer (Traveler) for a contract opportunity located in West Haven, CT.
For the right candidate, the company is willing to cover the cost of obtaining the R8 license.
OVERVIEWAn R8 licensed conveyor installer, also known as an Elevator Limited Conveyor Journeyperson, installs, maintains, repairs, and alters equipment used to move materials. They work exclusively for contractors licensed to perform this type of work and do not service freight elevators.
QUALIFICATIONSTo qualify for the license, candidates must have completed a registered apprenticeship program or possess equivalent experience and training, hold a current OSHA 30 certification, and document a minimum of 2,000 hours of conveyor installation experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints.
- Determining optimal layouts for conveyor systems.
- Planning for the removal or reinstallation of existing equipment.
- Traveling to various job sites.
- Working collaboratively in teams on larger projects.
- Ensuring installations and operations comply with applicable standards and customer requirements.
- Assisting with electrical systems, specifications, technical drawings, and site layouts.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience working with conveyor systems.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform hands‑on work.
- Strong communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Background Check and Drug Screen may be required.
