Purpose Statement:
The job of Fire Security Technician was established for the purpose/s of maintaining indoor/outdoor security equipment, fire alarms, and intercom/Bell systems, etc. in safe operating condition; and providing information on proper operation of various electronic systems. This job reports to the Fire/Security Foreman.
Essential Functions:
- Assists with snow removal (e.g. shovels, operates snow blower and/or snowplow) for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment.
- Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Coordinates with administration, contractors and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
- Inspects repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, etc. for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently and within local, state, federal regulations.
- Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
- Monitors security and fire alarm equipment, both indoor and outdoor for the purpose of ensuring that equipment is working properly and safely.
- Records work orders, inspections, and purchases for the purpose of documenting information for other personnel.
- Repairs and maintains electronic systems including communications, security, alarms etc. for the purpose of ensuring proper/safe efficient operation of equipment.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Reviews work orders for the purpose of ensuring compliance with pertinent fire, building and/or safety codes.
- Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site.
Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position
- Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.
Other Functions
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Physical Requirements – Not limited to the following:
- Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Move about inside and outside the school to access files, students and machinery.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, computer printer.
- Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder/stairs to access high objects or different levels of the building.
- Constantly positions self to maintain files, students, or objects.
- Have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Have the ability to observe details at close and far range.
- Frequently move items weighing up to 20 pounds across the classroom for various needs.
- Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods of time
- Utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plans
- Participate in and utilize district safety training
