Position Summary

This position requires a highly organized individual who possesses strong initiative and has the ability to complete multiple projects in a deadline‑driven environment. This individual must be able to communicate effectively and understand the need to work in an integrated manner with other members of the department in furtherance of goals, objectives, and knowledge.

  • Downloading and summarizing royalty statements from portals.
  • Combining and formatting large electronic datasets.
  • Maintaining organization of electronic files and folders.
  • Aggregating, transforming, summarizing, and analyzing various datasets by creating databases, designing pivot tables, and running queries.
  • Reconciling royalty subledger activities to the general ledger.
  • Reconciling various third‑party liability account balances.
  • Analyzing existing royalty system terms to ensure alignment with agreements.
  • Analyzing data to find underpayments of royalties and create claim schedules.
  • Preparing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and semi‑annual royalty statements to comply with contractual obligations, ensuring all costs and advances are reconciled to the general ledger.
  • Preparing royalty schedules for insurance applications and/or renewals.
  • Preparing customized royalty reports as requested.
  • Conducting Internet research.
  • Communicating client change of address and direct deposit information to income sources.
  • Responding to inquiries from internal teams.
Specific Job Knowledge, skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with an accounting system (Quick Books, Dynamics, SAP, Oracle).
  • Experience with data mining tools (Access, SQL, BI).
  • Experience developing metrics for reporting, using data visualization tools Tableau or Power BI.
  • Prior experience working in accounting, audit, royalty accounting, music and/or licensing.
  • Experience or education in the music business, particularly music royalties or audit.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across the organization.
  • Extremely detail‑oriented to create accurate and timely reports.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and a fit with the company’s culture & values.
Qualifications
  • Ability to reliably commute and report to the Tri Star office.
  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of work experience, preferably in the music or entertainment industry working with music royalties, publishing, and/or licensing.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and formulas (such as VLOOKUP and SUMIF).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with clear attention to detail.
  • Ability to set goals, manage timetables and meet deadlines.
