The Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of functions related to plumbing, heating, medical gases operation, and maintenance and repair of hospital and other building maintenance as required. The position is strenuous, requires standing on feet for long periods, lifting heavy equipment, and working in precarious locations. Must be able to work independently.
Responsibilities- Assists craftsmen and maintenance workers in all phases of their work.
- Carries tools and equipment at all times to be available for any emergency.
- Makes repairs to lights, plumbing fixtures (toilets, sinks, showers, faucets), oxygen & vacuum connections, outlets, switches, and other minor electrical repairs.
- Works under close supervision, performing routine tasks and other duties as required and when necessary under the direction of the Vice President or Director.
- Assists in snow removal.
- Works various shifts as necessary, including vacation/holidays and relief shifts.
- Performs preventive maintenance in assigned areas (floors & machine rooms).
- During night shifts, performs preventive maintenance in ORs & Delivery Rooms.
- Performs negative pressure testing in cooperation with Infection Control guidelines.
- Assists in construction projects, both on site and off site (demolition and final finishes).
- High School Diploma, equivalent or relative experience.
- Valid NYS Driver's License.
- Three (3) years of maintenance mechanic background, knowledge of commercial tools and basic mechanical experience.
USD $24.00 – $32.00 per hour.
This range serves as a good faith estimate; actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses, incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and does not include the value of benefits.
