Job SummaryThis position serves as the initial contact for all guests to Academic Advising. Perform receptionist duties in a cheerful, professional, and enthusiastic manner. Assist with crowd management during the months with the highest intake of students.
This is a part-time position which provides front desk coverage during regular business hours Monday – Thursday 8am – 6pm and Friday 8am – 4:30pm. Work location and hours may be adjusted depending on the needs of the department.
This is a Federal Work Study position. Applicants must be approved through Financial Aid in order to be considered for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities- Provide a warm and welcoming environment to all incoming students and guests of the Academic Advising office.
- Assist students, both in person and over the phone, in scheduling appointments to see their advisors.
- Effectively manage and triage students and redirect them to other services as needed.
- Proactively notify advisors of demand of services and refer students to campus resources.
- Access the A-Z index on the college website as well as the Advising website for information to provide students with quick answers to frequently asked questions.
- Flexibility with work hours during RUSH and for sick, vacation, or other coverage is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or GED and one year of customer service work experience in an office setting.
- Current SLCC student.
- Applicants must be approved through the Financial Aid Federal Work-Study Program.
- This position is subject to a successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Experience working as a receptionist in higher education.
