- Manage daily operations of the parts department for heavy equipment and rental fleet maintenance.
- Order, receive, and track parts, supplies, and materials from vendors and manufacturers.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to support maintenance and repair needs while controlling costs.
- Implement and maintain inventory management systems, including tracking, cycle counts, and audits.
- Coordinate with service technicians and mechanics to identify required parts for repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor equipment parts usage trends and forecast future inventory needs.
- Ensure accurate documentation of parts orders, receipts, warranties, and returns.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with parts vendors and negotiate pricing when possible.
- Ensure parts storage areas are organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
- Manage core returns, warranty claims, and defective parts processes.
- Work with accounting and operations teams to track parts expenses and maintain budget targets.
- Train and supervise parts department staff when applicable.
- Other job tasks and functions as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in parts management, inventory control, or equipment maintenance support.
- Experience with heavy equipment, construction equipment, or fleet maintenance preferred.
- Familiarity with equipment manufacturers such as CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, or similar.
- Proficiency with inventory management software and basic computer applications.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around warehouse or yard environments.
- Comfortable working in shop, warehouse, and outdoor environments.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment parts identification and systems.
- Experience with fleet management or maintenance software.
- Forklift operation experience (or willingness to obtain certification).
