Position:
Elementary Planning/PLC Assistant (Job )
Hours per week: 15-29 hrs.
Must be able to speak French fluently (ACTFL - Advanced Low).
Job SummaryThis position requires a dependable, student‑friendly and patient individual to work with K‑5th grade students in a classroom setting under the direction of the building principal and leadership team. The role involves providing classroom instruction for students in grades K‑5, supporting teachers by allowing them to meet in grade‑level collaborative groups. Attendance and physical presence are essential.
Essential Functions- Teaches students skills to overcome barriers, develop cooperative and collaborative attitudes, and build self‑esteem.
- Monitors student participation to ensure learning and development.
- Follows district policy for attendance.
- Communicates in the workplace as needed.
- Implements mini‑lesson plans for the classroom setting.
- Forms partnerships with students, teachers, and staff for progress, goals, concerns, and accomplishments.
- Engages children with enthusiasm, variety, and novelty throughout the day.
- Attends required professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
- Completes reports, including daily records of student progress in relation to mini lessons.
- Works under the direction of the building administrator(s).
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Highly Qualified if in a Title 1 school.
- No prior experience required.
- Ability to maintain a safe learning environment through best practice classroom management skills.
- Ability to monitor student engagement during mini lessons.
- Basic reading, writing, math, organization, record keeping, and computer skills.
- Ability to collaborate and share responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Displays patience and positivity.
- Makes decisions concerning the best way to accomplish tasks assigned by the building administrator and leadership team.
- Takes directions well and works within specific guidelines.
- Makes suggestions but follows directions.
- Considers safety of self and others.
- Interacts positively with students, parents, staff, teachers, administration, and district personnel.

- Work setting is mainly in the classroom.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- May be exposed to bodily fluids.
- May be asked to work inside or outside the building to accomplish tasks; working conditions can be in hot and cold weather.
- May experience stress from disruptive students or groups.
- Employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Sometimes required to use hands to handle or feel and occasionally climb or balance.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to stand/sit for long periods.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
