Salt Lake Community College has an exciting opportunity for a tenure track Full-Time Faculty position in the Non-Clinical Healthcare Sciences Program (HS AS). This faculty member will focus on instruction, cooperating with assessments, and participating in college service requirements. The selected candidate will work closely with the Non-Clinical HS AS Program Coordinator, Associate Dean and collaborate with other departments throughout the school.

This faculty member will be responsible for the implementation of curriculum as an instrument of teaching and assessment. This includes responsibilities in curricular development, innovation, and integrating pedagogy into the new Non-Clinical HS AS Program. The faculty member will build partnerships with employers in health administration and healthcare finance to expand student career pathways and align curriculum with workforce needs.

Teaching
  • Work closely with department peers and administrator to understand processes and procedures that lead to becoming a successful teacher and contributing member of the academic unit.
  • Maintain regular office hours and be available to provide help for students (5 hours per week minimum in the office/online). Provide each student with a course syllabus, timely feedback, accurate schedule (including maintaining office hours), and other material as needed for course and/or program success.
  • Make yourself available to teach courses at a time directed by the academic needs of the program and availability of staffing pool.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  • Participate in curriculum development/review and the assessment of student learning outcomes within the programs. Provide input and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Actively participate in the completion of self-study materials for CODA and Northwest Regional accreditation as assigned by the program director.
  • Exhibit critical thinking skills by anticipating problems and developing potential solutions in conjunction with program coordinator and associate dean.
  • Participate in the use of instructional technology including the use of computers and multimedia in lectures, laboratories, and distance learning environments.
  • Conduct a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance and provide appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments in a timely fashion, per department standards.
  • Maintain student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
  • Inform students of progress-to-date periodically. Assign and submit grades by published deadlines.
  • Handle/respond to student concerns/complaints and respond to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1-2 days.)
  • Participate in the tenure process including competing service and professional development duties and completing an annual Tenure File (Teams).
  • Provide ADA accommodations as requested.
  • Professional development:
    Attend regularly scheduled departmental, divisional, and committee meetings and workshops. Complete required training and participates in professional development. Attend Convocation, Commencement, and other institutional meetings. Maintain an in-depth understanding in the chosen field which includes participation in professional development and maintenance of valid training status per Salt Lake Community College policies.
  • Service:
    Cultivate and sustain employer partnerships to create internships, applied learning experiences, and job opportunities for health administration and finance students. Assist the Program Coordinator and Associate Dean in hiring both full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and part-time staff as needed. Assist the Program Coordinator and Student Success Coach with student recruitment, retention, and tracking through transfer and career pathways. Work with concurrently enrolled students and faculty.
