Mechanical Engineer III About This Role
Textron Systems is seeking a full‑time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on military applications. The candidate should possess good communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with suppliers within a multidiscipline team.
The position requires experience integrating component design solutions into an overall assembly and candidate must be a U.S. citizen with or capable of receiving a secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities- Participating in the detailed design of structural components.
- Being a member of a team responsible for the development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.
- Creation of Technical Data Packages that include 3D drawings, specifications and materials lists for component and assemblies of mechanical and electro‑mechanical applications.
- Preparing and directing high quality mechanical and electro‑mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
- Transitioning product design to production and test.
- Writing technical and proposal documents.
- Creating detailed design reports and presentations to summarize design/analysis results.
- Comfortable designing mechanical components and systems subjected to extreme hypersonic flight conditions, including packaging design of electronics systems and interconnects, interface control documents, and manufacturing and assembly techniques.
- Experience in mechanical and structural design leading to a qualified aeroshell design capable of reacting to high loading and thermal gradient conditions.
- Experience designing high‑temperature parts, allowing for thermal strain in tightly tolerance pressurized parts, and familiar with various material types and joining methods under high external operating pressures and accelerations.
- Skilled utilization of 3D digital manufacturing information to influence design definition options (preferably Siemens solutions) for manufacturable detailed assemblies and material schedules subject to configuration management.
- Ability to generate product performance specifications, mass property summary reports, and detailed design summary technical reports. DFMA skills a plus.
- Proficiency in Siemens Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Product Lifecycle Management Digital Integration Model (NX, Teamcenter), including product specification development, surface finish and material specification via PMP written design detailed documentation, presentation, and proposal preparation.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Possesses or has ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
