Company Description

The Civic Science Media Lab is a civic science news collaborative that examines the civic nature of science to bridge the gaps between scholarship and practice. The Lab conducts investigative civic science journalism to interrogate and unravel ongoing progress and make it accessible, informative, and actionable for diverse decision‑makers in the field who are building solutions to benefit society at the many intersections of science with society.

The Lab generates new questions for the experts we engage to shed light on Mesa actionable insights for researchers across scientific fields and training stages, inseen addition to practitioners such as science engagers, science journalists, funders, educators, community leaders, and others.

Role Description

This is a part‑time remote role for a Website Manager to manage the growing Civic Science Media Network (CSM Network) Terminal ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) which is a website that brings together all the reporting from the journalists/analysts on video, audio and print covering the civic nature of science from multiple angles. The Website Manager will be responsible for ensuring all the reporting produced by the lab is added to the website on a timely manner and that the website is working efficiently.

As part of the content management responsibilities, the individual will:

  • Ensure information on our 3 key databases (training landscape, conferences, & funding) is up to date and accurate.
  • Liaise with our external WP Tech Support Team to ensure the website is working efficiently.
Qualifications
  • Web Analytics and Content Management skills
  • Project Management and E-Commerce expertise
  • Web Design Capabilities (working with WP Tech Support)
  • Prior experience with Word Press is a must
  • Experience with website development and maintenance
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Background in journalism, media, or related field is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Design, Communications, or related field

The ideal candidate has an active interest or experience in civic science and has experience building and managing dashboards. The candidate is looking for a side gig opportunity to expand their portfolio of work within civic science. The expectation is for the role to last 4 months with a stipend of $300/month 4 hours per week) and will report to the Lab Director.
