Summary
The Buyer will play a vital role in the procurement process of materials, components, supplies, and services for our organization. Responsibilities include sourcing suppliers, placing orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. With a focus on cost‑effectiveness and quality, the Buyer will contribute to maintaining a reliable supply chain that supports the smooth operation of the company.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery time, pricing, and service.
- Maintain a database of approved suppliers and update records regularly.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions to secure competitive pricing and payment terms.
- Generate and reconcile purchase orders, ensuring alignment with approved requisitions and specifications.
- Communicate purchase order details to suppliers, including quantities, delivery dates, and shipping instructions.
- Monitor and track order status to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster open communication and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify cost‑saving opportunities, process enhancements, and quality improvements.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Collaborate with inventory and production teams to forecast demand and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Monitor inventory levels, identify slow‑moving or excess stock, and take actions to optimize inventory and minimize carrying costs.
Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes, identifying opportunities for streamlining, cost reduction, and operational efficiency. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and best practices to drive innovation and improvement. Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in a buyer or procurement role, preferably in manufacturing or a related industry.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive favorable terms and pricing.
- Solid understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and supply chain principles.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling procurement documentation.
- Knowledge of legal and contractual terms related to procurement is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM or CPPM are desirable.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally, work with personnel on the manufacturing floor, write by hand and use a keyboard, and communicate by speech and hearing simultaneously.
• Communication is by phone, email, and in person.
• Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Visual acuity is needed for close detailed work, computer use, and operation of office machines.
• General office environment.
