In this role, you will be responsible for:
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will support plant operations by maintaining plant equipment in either the Packaging, Processing, or Warehouse business unit to meet and/or exceed the business unit’s goals and objectives in safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and customer service. The Maintenance Mechanic ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative and corrective maintenance requirements on various types of industrial equipment.
Maintenance Mechanics work on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule. Day shift will be scheduled 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Adhering to all safety, health, and environmental standards, taking personal responsibility to prevent injury or illness. Following all permit procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, confined space, arc flash, and work-at-heights requirements.
- Using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) daily to document maintenance activities, including time, parts used, work performed, abnormalities, and follow-up actions.
- Performing maintenance activities—preventive, corrective, breakdown, and work orders—to improve equipment performance, reliability, and product quality in a timely manner.
- Troubleshooting equipment and parts failures using reasoning and analysis, and participating in focused improvement activities as assigned.
- Addressing and resolving equipment and system faults related to ASRS, conveyors, and other Flow Department equipment. This may involve physically demanding tasks, such as climbing inside the ASRS up to 10 levels high while wearing fall protection.
- Using and caring for personal and company tools and equipment properly and professionally.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work site during maintenance activities and in assigned areas.
- Responding promptly to maintenance calls, coordinating with maintenance and area leadership to prioritize work.
- Communicating effectively with maintenance and area owners regarding safety issues, quality concerns, and delays in work completion.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Standing, walking, bending and stooping (at waist level), kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting (at waist level and at the neck).
- Regularly climb ladders, stairs, steps, stools, and multiple levels of stairs inside our automated storage system up to 10 levels high while wearing the required fall protection equipment.
- Reaching with hands and arms into work areas to repair or retrieve machines/tools/parts, troubleshoot and perform equipment inspections.
- Regularly enduring repetitive lifting, from 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., and occasional team lifting or more than 50 lbs.
- Tasting, smelling, seeing (including colors), speaking, and hearing, within a normal range to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
- Working up to 12-hour shifts in production areas with a usually moderate noise level.
- Work will be performed in a manufacturing environment with usually moderate noise levels and will involve standing/walking on a concrete surface for the duration of your shift.
- Regularly working indoors, near moving mechanical parts and will be regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions, as well as going outdoors (infrequently).
- Occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant.
- Occasionally work in high, precarious places and may be exposed to extreme cold, the risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- Occasionally be exposed to heights, precarious places, and minimal low frequency radiation from x-ray machine.
