This role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining equipment used in the dry sausage operations such as compressors, pumps, and electronics. It also involves testing and measuring aspects of the sausage while in the drying room to ensure optimal product quality and safety.
Responsibilities- Ensure uniform air distribution and maintenance of target temperature and humidity ranges throughout the drying room to achieve optimal drying and mold growth levels.
- Monitor and repair drying room equipment, including PLCs and other control systems, to ensure continuous operation schedule.
- Test sausage product throughout the process using a variety of measuring equipment and document results.
- Analyze, evaluate, and communicate results from product and equipment monitoring; adjust equipment as needed to reach targeted specifications.
- Make recommendations to management for equipment replacement or improvements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental requirements associated with the production of dry sausage products.
- Understand and implement appropriate safety procedures through education, training, protective equipment, and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Cover sick and vacation for 3 am–3 pm shifts.
- 1–3 years of experience in a related field is preferred.
- Proficient with programming, use, and repair of PLCs.
- Understanding of processes involved in production of dry sausage products.
- Ability to use and read measurement instruments.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people, and conveyor.
- Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
- This role does not require any domestic travel.
- Position requires the physical agility to perform continuous lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls, and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
- Position requires the physical ability to stand/walk for the duration of work hours.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from a low of $19.50 to a maximum of $29.15, with offers typically between the low and middle of the range, based on education, skills, experience and internal equity among other factors. This role is eligible for overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 hours in a week.
