Quality Engineering Technician

The Quality Engineering Technician ensures the consistent quality, reliability, and performance of products throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports quality engineering and production operations through inspection, testing, data analysis, and process improvement activities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc inspections of raw materials, components, in-process assemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, spectrophotometers, and other testing tools to verify product dimensions, material characteristics, and performance requirements.
  • Conduct product testing and validation activities according to established test procedures and engineering requirements.
  • Document inspection results, test data, and quality findings accurately within quality systems, nonconformance reports, and production documentation.
  • Assist quality engineers in conducting root cause analysis for product defects, nonconforming materials, and process failures including product teardown and testing to identify failure modes.
  • Assist quality engineers in reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure inspection criteria and testing procedures align with product requirements.
  • Support the implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions to address nonconformances and prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze quality data and inspection results to identify trends, recurring defects, or process variations that may impact product quality.
  • Conduct process audits and inspections on manufacturing operations to verify adherence to quality standards, work instructions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist quality engineers in developing, updating, and improving quality control procedures, inspection plans, and testing protocols by collecting and analyzing data from product testing, process monitoring, and design of experiments to support engineering decision-making.
  • Assist in maintaining calibration records and verifying proper use of inspection and testing equipment.
  • Train and mentor production employees and new technicians on quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving product quality, process capability, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical training in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in quality control, manufacturing, or technical operations preferred.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify deviations from quality standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering and production teams.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with quality systems, inspection documentation, or manufacturing software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently, write by hand, use basic computer systems, and operate simple hand tools used to crimp, cut, strip, measure, and test components.
