Bringing Home the Dough

The Route Sales Trainee (RST) is trained to learn the required skills to become a successful Route Sales Representative (RSR) or Route Delivery Driver (RDD). In training, the RST learns the sorting, inventorying, building, loading, and delivering and merchandising daily orders of products to retail customers. The RST also learns to accurately invoice products at time of delivery, meeting customer expectations and following established best practices.

It demands an eagerness to gain industry knowledge and learn the skills necessary for success. The RST interacts with the general public and customers daily, requiring a neat, professional appearance and possibly a specific uniform.

RSTs are required to safely and efficiently operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), delivering to retail stores at assigned times each day and completing service within the expected duration. The Company is registered with DOT as a private motor carrier and is subject to FMCSA rules and regulations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Know and follow all retailer/account standard operating procedures, including check‑in/check‑out and service windows.
  • Adhere to the fresh market policy by appropriately rotating products and removing damaged or out‑of‑code products as necessary.
  • Follow the shelf‑life cycle of each brand/product.
  • Ensure shelf life is maximized with proper rotation of products to ensure backstock is rotated and stocked first before the next fresh delivery is merchandised on shelves or displays.
  • Perform daily route settlement requirements: verifying product quantities, accurately invoicing the proper account, and adhering to the cash collection policy.
  • Perform an accurate weekly inventory in the handheld computer device at select accounts on specific days designated by the company.
