HDPE Outside Sales Representative (Fusible Piping Systems)
Position Summary

Core & Main is seeking an experienced and motivated HDPE Outside Sales Representative to drive sales growth and customer engagement for our High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping and fusible piping solutions. This role focuses on developing relationships with contractors, engineers, municipalities, utilities, industrial customers, and distribution partners while serving as a technical resource throughout the sales process.

The ideal candidate combines strong sales acumen with technical knowledge of HDPE piping systems, fusion methods, and infrastructure applications. This individual will identify new business opportunities, support project development, and partner with internal teams to deliver industry-leading products and services.

• Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve revenue and margin objectives for HDPE and fusible piping solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with contractors, municipalities, engineering firms, utility providers, industrial customers, and developers.
• Identify and pursue project opportunities involving water, wastewater, stormwater, gas distribution, mining, industrial, and infrastructure applications.
• Promote HDPE products, fusion services, fittings, valves, and related accessories.
• Conduct customer visits, project site meetings, and product demonstrations.
• Collaborate with branch teams, fabrication facilities, and technical specialists to support customer needs and project execution.
• Interpret project plans, specifications, and bid documents to identify HDPE opportunities.
• Assist customers in selecting appropriate piping solutions based on application requirements and industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance on butt fusion, electrofusion, socket fusion, and mechanical joining methods.
• Generate and manage project quotations, proposals, and sales forecasts.
• Track customer activity, account plans, and project pipelines through CRM tools.
• Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities within the territory.
• Participate in industry associations, trade shows, customer events, and professional networking opportunities.
• Support collection efforts and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

• 3+ years of outside sales experience in HDPE piping, waterworks, underground utilities, civil construction, industrial piping, or related infrastructure markets.
• Proven ability to develop new business and expand existing customer relationships.
• Knowledge of HDPE piping systems, fittings, fusion methods, and applicable industry standards.
• Experience reading project plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.

• Experience selling fusible HDPE piping systems.
• Knowledge of ASTM, AWWA, FM, and other industry standards related to HDPE products.
• Understanding of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with engineers, utility owners, contractors, and public agencies.
• Technical training or certification related to HDPE fusion operations.
• Background in waterworks, fire protection, natural gas distribution, industrial, mining, or utility markets.
