The Diesel Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing diesel-powered vehicles, equipment, and machinery to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and other mechanical components. The Diesel Technician works closely with supervisors, operators, and other team members to minimize downtime, maintain equipment performance, and ensure compliance with company safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Repair and maintain semi-trucks and trailers, various size forklifts and company vehicles.
- Perform a competent inspection, make repairs and document work completed.
- Inspect tires, dismount and mount tires on rims.
- Perform lugnut torque procedure when mounting wheels to equipment.
- Interact with various people, mechanics, drivers, operators and office personnel.
Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Be able to use diagnostic tools, Diagnostic Link— Cummins Insite — Wabco — Bendix, to find issues and make repairs.
- Be able to read schematics, electrical, air and hydraulic, to diagnose and repair.
- Class A CDL.
- Understanding of DEF / EGR system.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 65 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods.
- Physically fit to work in an industrial environment and tolerate exposure to varying physical conditions.
- Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.
- Industrial manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Use of PPE such as gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear is required.
- Interaction with team members, leads, and supervisors is frequent and necessary.
