Personal Financial Counselor; Counselor, PFC, Grissom Army Reserve

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage in short‑term, surge, and on‑demand situations arising from military needs, such as post‑deployment events or to cover absent counselors.
• Deliver the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
• Offer education and counseling on financial services, including one‑on‑one counseling, consultation with a commander or other staff, briefings and presentations, and referrals to external resources.
• Work closely with installation and military branch points of contact (POC) to ensure the program is within scope and meets installation needs.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and provide informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, career events).
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes such as web‑based chat, secure online chat, video‑based communications, and secure video teleconference (authorized by OSD FINRED Program Office).
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
• Communicate with leadership, participate in regular individual and group supervision, and share information on trends and issues across installations.
• Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required. Associate degree + 4 years experience, or high school diploma + 6 years experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish if required by the contract.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Maximum: $93,500
