We are seeking an experienced, field-driven Safety Manager to lead onsite safety for a major hospital construction project in West Lafayette, Indiana
. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional looking for stability, leadership responsibility, and the chance to support a large-scale project from its early stages through completion.
The project recently broke ground, and you will serve as the primary onsite safety representative
. We need someone who can confidently lead the safety program while maintaining a visible, hands‑on presence in the field.
Start Date: ASAP
Employment Type: 1099 Contractor
Location: West Lafayette, IN
Project Duration: Approximately 2 years
Pay Rate: $50-$55 per hour
Per Diem: $140
Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 40 hours per week

Weekends as project conditions requireProject: General contractor overseeing a new-build hospital project
- Serve as the lead and primary safety professional onsite
- Provide safety oversight across active general-construction operations
- Maintain a consistent, highly visible presence throughout the field
- Conduct routine jobsite inspections and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors
- Partner with project leadership, subcontractors, and field personnel to reinforce safety expectations
- Support pre-task planning, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with site safety requirements
- Address safety concerns promptly and follow corrective actions through completion
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and inspection records
- Help establish a proactive, accountable safety culture from the early stages of construction
- Previous experience serving in a lead safety capacity
- Experience working directly for or alongside a general contractor
- Strong construction-safety knowledge and field awareness
- Ability to independently manage onsite safety responsibilities
- Confident communicator who can work effectively with project leadership, subcontractors, and craft personnel
- Willingness to remain actively engaged in field operations, not confined to an office
- Professional, proactive, and capable of taking ownership of the project's safety needs
