Job Summary

This position has a primary emphasis on School‑Based Agricultural Education teacher preparation.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the program.
  • Coordinate Agricultural Education (Ag Ed) Learning Community in Residential Life.
  • Serve as university supervisor (student teacher supervision) for Ag Ed student teachers.
  • Advise the Indiana Association of Agricultural Educators (IAAE) Purdue student organization.
  • Assist with mentoring and career advising for undergraduate students.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels, especially Indiana Agriculture teachers and Indiana 4‑H/Youth Extension Educators.
  • Assist with the teacher education licensure accreditation process for Ag Ed, with primary responsibility for Verification of Agricultural Work Experience so Ag Ed graduates can obtain their CTE (Career and Technical Education) Agricultural instructional teaching license.
  • Coordinate Early Field Experience for ASEC 34100 placements.
  • Serve as laboratory coordinator for AGED lab spaces.
  • Serve as host site coordinator for CASE (Curriculum for Agriscience Education) Preservice Institutes, beginning Spring 2027.
  • Lead Teacher for CASE Preservice Institutes (currently Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) and Principles of Agricultural Science‑Animal (ASA)).
  • Communicate with Office of Clinical Practices, Office of Teacher Education and Licensure, and College of Education Office of Advising to include waiver requests, permission to proceed requests, course sequencing and scheduling, dispositions notices, Ti‑BOT progress verification, progress toward meeting licensure requirements, and others.
  • Engage in recruitment and outreach specific to Ag Ed, including winter and summer Ag Teacher Workshops, state and national FFA conventions.
Education

Required:

  • Earned master's degree (or greater) in agricultural education or a closely related field prior to the beginning of the appointment (Summer 2026).

Desired:

  • Instructional License in CTE:
    Agriculture (or equivalent license from another state).
  • Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) certified in one or more areas.
Experience

Required:

  • Minimum three years of successful middle and/or high school teaching experience in agricultural education or a closely related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired:

  • Five or more years of successful experience in teaching agriculture at the middle and/or high school level in School-Based Agricultural Education (SBAE).
  • Successful experience in college-level SBAE teacher preparation instruction.
