Position: Assistant Director of Fraternity, Sorority and Cooperative Life

The Assistant Director of Fraternity, Sorority and Cooperative Life works with the fraternity, sorority and cooperative life team to provide resources, expertise and direction for the 5 governing councils (including Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Association, Purdue Cooperative Council), 90+ member groups, over 7,200 student members, and hundreds of alumni, volunteer and student leaders. This dynamic and collaborative professional will assist with developing and implementing a community mission, vision and strategic plan.

Responsibilities include designing, planning, and assessing events and programs that support the educational mission of Purdue University and the co-curricular experience. In this role, you will provide leadership training on a variety of topics such as academic success, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, chapter operations, health, safety, well-being, accountability, recruitment and retention, and service learning. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison to various campus and community partners, alumni advisors, headquarters staff and house corporation boards.

Additional duties will include providing creative marketing and outreach to serve a diverse and vibrant fraternity, sorority and cooperative community.

Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Student Affairs, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling or related field.
  • Four years of experience in higher education, event planning, student coordination, working with fraternity and sorority students, or related field.
  • Experience with fraternity and sorority or cooperative life.
  • Strong skills in advising students, their organizations and programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, information management and organization.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret University policies and implement risk management/judicial procedures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships among and support a diverse population of students, alumni, and community partners.
  • A valid US or Canadian driver’s license.
  • Ability to identify problems, analyze information and implement solutions.
  • Proficiency in Office software and skills in social media, website, assessment and program development and event coordination.
  • Ability to integrate student development theory and mission and action congruence to practice.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Student Affairs, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling or related field.
  • Three academic years of full-time employment in a fraternity or sorority life office.
