Supervise students in absence of their original teacher

Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the classroom teacher

Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment

Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators

Manage classroom behavior and student engagement

Perform other duties as assigned by the School Principal or staff

Education, Training, and Experience

Required:

• High School Diploma
• Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit (can be obtained through our office)
• College coursework in education or a related field is preferred
• Prior experience in a school or child care setting

• Displays positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work as a team with other staff
• Displays dependability, punctuality, and adaptability
• Ability to follow instructions and adapt to various classroom environments

Position works primarily indoors in a variety of classroom settings

Frequently interacts with students and school staff

May work near loud or distracting environments

May need to stand, walk, or supervise active students for extended periods

May be required to manage emotionally or behaviorally challenging situations
