Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Admissions – International promotes Purdue University’s undergraduate programs and advises prospective students in the college search and selection process. The position assists the Office of Admissions with strategy and initiatives related to the admission and recruitment of international undergraduate students. Core responsibilities include admission recruitment, application review, and responding to phone and email inquiries. The role engages both in‑person and virtually with prospective domestic and international students and their families in one‑on‑one meetings and large or small audiences on‑campus and worldwide.
Program coordination and related projects may also be included.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in any area of study.
- Two years of customer service, admissions, recruitment, enrollment management or related experience.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and apply admissions policies, procedures, and guidelines accurately and consistently.
- Ability to analyze academic records, evaluate applicant information, and make sound admissions recommendations.
- Effective communication with diverse and international populations.
- Demonstrated intercultural competence through international, cross‑cultural, or multicultural experiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience using database or CRM systems and other web‑based technologies.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Travel readiness domestically and internationally, including a minimum of two weeks annually.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in undergraduate admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management.
- Familiarity with international secondary education systems, grading scales, curricula, and evaluation of international secondary‑level academic credentials for U.S. university admission.
- Basic knowledge of F‑1 student visa regulations and international student enrollment requirements.
- Experience working with students, schools, or partners in an international or multicultural environment.
- Foreign language proficiency.
The anticipated annual salary for this position is $50,000, commensurate with education and experience. The final offer will consider budget, educational background, and relevant experience.
