The successful candidate will create positive, structured academic environments while helping students develop responsibility, organization, productive study habits, and greater independence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Academic Study Hall:
Supervise students in a structured academic study environment. Maintain accurate attendance and student accountability. Help students identify and prioritize missing assignments and current coursework. Encourage productive use of study time and appropriate technology use. Coordinate student access to teachers for intervention, reteaching, make-up work, and assessments.
  • Academic Lounge:
Supervise an independent-study environment for qualifying upper-level students. Maintain a welcoming, professional, college-like academic atmosphere. Encourage responsible independent study and appropriate academic collaboration. Monitor student attendance, productivity, and adherence to Academic Lounge expectations. Assist administration in identifying students who may need additional academic support or structure.
  • Media Center:
Assist with the daily operation and supervision of the Media Center. Help maintain an organized, welcoming, and academically focused environment. Assist students with locating resources and appropriately using Media Center spaces and technology. Support basic circulation, organization, inventory, displays, and other Media Center functions as assigned. Assist teachers and students utilizing the Media Center for academic activities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop positive, professional relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations. Assist with make-up assessments and other academic-support activities. Communicate academic, attendance, behavioral, or productivity concerns to appropriate school personnel. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other staff to support student success. Maintain student confidentiality and accurate records. Provide supervision and academic support in other areas as needed. Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the building principal.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to effectively supervise and build positive relationships with high school students. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn school technology systems. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school staff. Dependable attendance and ability to maintain student confidentiality.
  • Preferred:
Experience working with adolescents in a school, library, educational, youth-service, or similar setting. Postsecondary education or training. Experience with Google Workspace, educational technology, libraries, or academic-support programs.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who is organized, approachable, consistent, flexible, student-centered, and academically focused. The ideal candidate can balance student independence with appropriate accountability and is comfortable transitioning between structured study hall supervision, independent Academic Lounge supervision, and Media Center responsibilities.

Our Goal:
Support? Responsibility? Independence

This position is an important part of Twin Lakes High School's commitment to providing students with the structure, resources, and opportunities necessary to become increasingly responsible and independent learners. Twin Lakes High School is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
