Senior Tooling Engineer
An opportunity to join Saab in West Lafayette, IN, manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. This flagship facility uses advanced manufacturing techniques and leverages research and development to support Saab’s broad product portfolio. The Manufacturing/Tooling Engineering function is responsible for technical tooling work from design, calculation, tooling preparation, documentation, and verification, as well as tooling engineering development, tooling techniques, and qualification of new tools based on specific requirements.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the development of production systems and working methods, influencing the design work to achieve low production costs without compromising function, safety and quality.
- Develop new technical solutions and contribute to the development of efficient production systems and assembly lines based on Lean principles.
- Deploy advanced tooling options where they can be effectively leveraged.
- Ensure the accurate and timely tooling resources are available for the operation, supported by processes to ensure tooling maintenance and calibration.
- Drive continuous improvement for tooling resources and processes.
- Consistently demonstrate support for the core Company values – trust, drive, expertise and support.
- Work collaboratively with Swedish tooling resources to deliver tooling solutions.

$92,200–$115,300
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate’s work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant tooling experience in a manufacturing environment; 10+ years relevant tooling experience and Aerostructures experience is preferred.
- Driven, innovative and takes initiative.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Catia, Solid Works, or similar modeling skills desirable.
- Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Must be able to travel internationally.
