Overview

The Research and Development Engineer at MED Institute will apply engineering principles to research and develop medical devices based on client needs. Responsibilities include completing project deliverables and tasks to support evaluation of medical devices and creation of novel concepts through collaboration with external clients and, upon request, with other Cook companies.

Responsibilities
  • Understand client expectations while driving toward scientific excellence.
  • Interact with management, technical leadership and clients to plan, complete, analyze and report results of experiments, tests, prototype development, literature reviews, and related activities.
  • Ensure project deliverables and tasks are technically excellent and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Document deliverables and maintain records detailing project history (reports, laboratory notebooks, invention disclosures, scientific literature, meeting notes, deliverables, etc.).
  • Maintain and develop the technical capabilities necessary to provide technical solutions to clients.
  • Understand the intellectual property process and how it is established, harvested, characterized, and protected.
Qualifications
  • Technical skills and knowledge: BS (or advanced degree) in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Aided Engineering, Biology or Physiology, or equivalent experience.
  • Innovative:
    Proven ability to innovate in the development of novel concepts and creating practical solutions in a timely manner.
  • Task Oriented:
    Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate the completion of deliverables and tasks.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Professionalism:
    Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in all interactions, demonstrating good work ethic and discipline.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. MED Institute does not intend to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
