Provides hands-on technical support, including equipment setup, maintenance, and fabrication assistance, to advance the Duerstock IAS Lab’s research in assistive technology and accessible design. Ensures the effective operation of lab tools, devices, and work spaces to support students, faculty, and research initiatives. Provides administrative support for the procurement of equipment and materials, preparation and submission of compliance and project reports, onboarding and training of student researchers, and engagement with industry partners to advance accessible transportation initiatives.

Provide lab training for students in safe mechanical and electronics fabrication for prototype development including 3D printing and microcontroller programming.

This position will be filled at 0.75 FTE.

What You'll Be Doing:

Technical Project Support
:

Assist with CAD design, fabrication, and basic data analysis to support ongoing assistive technology and accessible design projects.

Install, maintain, repair, and calibrate mechanical, electrical, and scientific equipment used in the lab's research and upkeep the lab space.

Administrative & Safety:

Help manage lab safety protocols, compliance, and general planning/logistics to keep operations running smoothly.

Provide guidance and hands-on training to undergraduate students working in the lab.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • 0–1 year of relevant experience (internships, coursework, or lab experience considered)
